GAIL ABHA, a unique initiative designed to nurture the entrepreneurial spirit among the spouses of GAIL employees, was launched in March 2023 by Shri Sandeep Kumar Gupta, CMD, GAIL (India) Limited.

The initiative was a collaborative effort between the GAIL Training Institute — the Learning & Development vertical of GAIL —and IIT, Madras, during GAIL Abha 1.0. During Abha 2.0, GTI has collaborated with the Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT), IIT Delhi. It aims to provide a structured platform for aspiring women entrepreneurs across GAIL townships to explore, develop, and scale their business ideas.

Conceptualised and implemented under the leadership of Shri Ayush Gupta, Director (HR), GAIL, the programme has been instrumental in transforming homemakers and job seekers into confident entrepreneurs across diverse sectors. With active participation from over 400 spouses, the first edition of GAIL ABHA has already led to the creation of 42 ventures and 55 entrepreneurs, underscoring its measurable success.

By fostering self-reliance, strengthening community engagement in remote locations, and contributing to greater employee satisfaction, GAIL ABHA stands out as one of GAIL’s most impactful community-centric initiatives.

Building on this success, GAIL ABHA 2.0 is now underway — integrating digital tools and AI into the learning experience of participants. Looking ahead, the vision is to extend the initiative beyond the organisation, empowering women at the grassroots level and creating a wider ripple of inclusive growth.

Further adding to its recognition, GAIL ABHA was recently featured in the 3rd episode of Ideabaaz — a business reality show aired on Zee TV and streaming on ZEE5, hosted by Pratik Gandhi. Ideabaaz celebrates innovation by showcasing real entrepreneurs pitching their ideas to a panel of investors known as “Titans,” perfectly mirroring the spirit of enterprise that GAIL ABHA represents.
