🚨 Need help identifying a ransomware variant
A friend’s on-prem Windows Server was compromised.
Current observations:
• Every file across C:, D: and E: has been encrypted
• Extension appended: .XRET
• Ransom note identifies itself as XRET RANSOMWARE
• Contact details:
Proton: [email protected]
Telegram: @MRXret
WhatsApp: [phone]
• Demanding $800 USDT and offering a free decryption test.
We’ve isolated the server and are preserving evidence. No backups unfortunately.
Has anyone encountered this .XRET variant or these indicators before? Any known decryptor, IoCs, or incident reports would be hugely appreciated.
