@OnDisasters Yes, one of the two witnesses I know was onboard that train, if I remember correctly the train was heading towards Dresden. Afterwards he was scared of flying, his wife convinced him a few years ago to go on vacation by plane, but the engine of their plane caught fire.
@OnDisasters It’s crazy, I actually know two people that witnessed this crash, the plane crashed into a densely populated area, a large oak tree still stands at the crash site, in this tree bodies were found hanging down after the crash. It is a miracle that there were no ground fatalities!
@OnDisasters@linnea_kar991 In Russia and the countries where the technology is used. The infrastructure is often poor, the weather is extreme, crews are frequently poorly trained, and alcohol abuse is a problem; on top of that, maintenance is often skimped on to save costs.
@OnDisasters@linnea_kar991 Mi helicopters are among the most reliable helicopters in the world Even though modern Russian aviation technology exhibits significant safety shortcomings particularly due to sanctions it still enjoys a good reputation for robustness, ease of maintenance, and operating costs
