saw a tiktok sharing “five signs you may be a deep feeler” like “you can get overwhelmed by sensory stimuli like strong smells” & “sometimes you feel like an alien” and i am begging undiagnosed autistics to deal with their internalized ableism and stop inventing these euphemisms
Finding out you’re autistic can feel like everything has changed *and* like nothing has changed; you are the same person you’ve always been, but you’ve received information that may change your entire perspective of who you are, how you experience life and why you do what you do.
Many autists have told me that they despise cinemas/movie theatres, as they find them too overwhelming/overstimulating. Oddly, I find them to be such relaxing safe spaces; they’re dark, spacious, and the loudness of the movie drowns out human noise. How do you feel about cinemas?
My love language is forcing everyone to become obsessed with my current obsession so they suffer with me. I am the opposite of a gatekeeper. I am a gateway.
