The post-match reaction to Sami Zayn losing the WWE Championship to CM Punk on RAW might've been some of the best character work I've ever seen from him.

It was raw. It was genuine. It was the emotion of someone who spent 24 years fighting to finally reach the top, only to have it all taken away just nine days later.

The irony is that CM Punk was in the exact same position Sami Zayn is in now 15 years ago. Now Punk is the one monopolizing the main event scene, while Sami is the one living with the scarcity, struggling to break through.

It's a compelling story, and it's exactly why I believe Sami Zayn is one of the most compelling characters in WWE today.
