listen, i’m an artist. i understand the necessity of criticism when it comes to art as means for growth and development. however! if your “criticism” is that she only writes good music when she’s sad/because of her ex-boyfriend, i’m no longer listening to you because that isn’t a proper critique. it’s asinine, you sound like a child that’s mad you didn’t get what you wanted. if you don’t like the production, fine! if isn’t what you’d prefer lyrically, fine! that’s valid! what’s not valid is these underlying misogynistic takes that her previous albums were only good because of who she was dating or that who she was dating actually wrote all of her good songs. ESPECIALLY when her first 4 albums alone go bar for bar with the likes of folklore, evermore, and ttpd. 5 years from now you’re gonna be saying this album wasn’t given its proper flowers, just like so many of y’all did with rep and lover.
