Since the announcement of the winner of the competition, I’ve noticed that some accounts have been posting negative comments about the girl and about our country, instead of focusing on the helmet she designed specifically for @alo_oficial .

I’m sure Fernando Alonso wouldn’t be happy with such comments—neither from his fans nor from his fellow countrymen. Alonso is well-loved here, and he shares that sentiment. He even lived in Saudi Arabia for nearly a month, and all of his remarks have been overwhelmingly positive.

What’s surprising is that only a few comments actually talked about the helmet itself, while the majority were negative simply because the girl wears a hijab—a personal choice she made of her own free will. Sadly, these comments could be very upsetting to her, especially since she was looking forward to hearing opinions from Alonso’s fans about her design, not about her appearance.
