An absolute privilege to join @HomertonCollege for their BHM dinner hosted by Lord Woolley. Seeing the amazing @NaomiCampbell receive a Lifetime Achievement award for her inspiring work on and off the catwalk was incredible.
An unforgettable evening!

It was a pleasure to speak at the Parliamentary roundtable on Service Innovation to address health inequalities in prostate cancer.
Thanks to Jim Shannon MP for hosting the meeting, and @AstellasEurope and @incisivehealth for organising.

SAS & Locally Employed Doctors are underestimated & underrecognised for often extensive roles in leadership, teaching etc.
"Call me what I am, not what I am not" - not non-trainee, non-consultant!
@sarah_itam identifying how we can be allies for those experiencing gender, racial or other discrimination:
1. Acknowledge the problem (this inc by & in big organisations!)
2. Speak out
3. Advocate for improvement/action
Diversity of leadership is so important.

Every woman doctor has encountered difficulties convincing patients they are indeed the doctor.
@sarah_itam's multiple iterations of intros that she's had to work through makes me realise how many times that must be amplified for women surgeons, & for women of colour.

It was a privilege to chair the parliamentary workshop on health inequalities in #prostatecancer hosted by MP @Peter_Dowd and organised by @orchidcancer. Powerful and moving accounts from the men who attended. #1in4BlackMen
I was privileged to be invited to attend the inaugural British Association of Black Surgeons conference at the Royal College of Surgeons today. Congratulations to the Chair, Vascular Surgeon Sarah Itam, for establishing this important Association.
As I relax on holiday, I reflect on a historic week with the inaugural conference of the British Association of Black Surgeons. Delighted to be part of an amazing group of surgeons dedicated to improving the training and careers of black surgeons. Better is yet to come.
Had a great time with the SHARP project at @ChelseaFC training ground, delivering workshops to young people on their Academy programme.
