Have you ever watched a baby die of pertussis? I have. Several.

This is what it looks like:
A newborn baby can’t stop coughing. They can’t catch their breath and they can’t eat. They get dehydrated and stop peeing. They sometimes have pauses in their breathing. Parents are terrified so they come to the ER.

In the ER, labs show they have a dangerously high white blood cell count. Their blood has become thick from the white blood cells and doesn’t travel through organs like it should. Less oxygen gets delivered to vital organs. They start to seize. Imaging reveals they had a stroke. They can’t pump blood to their lungs and body.

A breathing tube gets placed in their trachea. They get put on a ventilator. A plastic catheter is placed in their veins and arteries to give them medicine and measure blood pressure.

If they are lucky, they can make it to a #PedsICU that provides #ECMO, or full heart lung bypass. They are attached to machines that take over all their body functions.

But it’s too late. Their hands and feet turn black because they can’t perfuse their bodies. Their faces turn grey/green. They won’t stop seizing from the brain injury.

They are attached to too many machines to hold while alive and parents lay their bodies on top of them and cry until they fall asleep then cry again.

There is nothing to do but stop the machines. Antibiotics to treat pertussis were given but were no match for the infections effects on a newborn baby.

Parents finally hold their baby after the machines have turned off and their baby is cold and lifeless.

Is this what you want? This is what RFK Jr will bring to American families.

Steps now on @whoop…Why did I change my mind on Steps? (admittedly I spent a decade bashing the metric 😬)

1. Research now shows that step counts over 8200 / day lowers risk for variety of chronic diseases and obesity.
2. Members really wanted it.
3. We can measure Steps AND Strain. It doesn’t need to be an OR. Members who want it can use it, others can remove it.
4. I got tired of hearing that people would wear another device in addition to @whoop solely to get Steps which is a lousy member experience.

Should be a net positive. Enjoy 👊🏼

The world was really hating me, and sending hatred vibes toward me very overtly for I don't know how many years. But in some ways I'm happy about it. It taught me a lesson. These hate vibes, they're like love vibes, they're very strong. It kept me going. When you're hated so much, you live.

You don't hurt me though, because I know you, and I love you. I can take hatred because I don't believe that people are capable of real hate. We are too lonely for that. We vanish too quickly for that.

The conversation is complicated. Things are not as simple as we hope or want them to be. We are all saddened, frightened and furious about everything. SO much is on the line; people’s lives, everywhere, are on the line.

There are people that want to condemn reality, rather than working from within any opposition to change it. To make it safer. The system(s) we have in this world are far beyond flawed.

And yet, through horrid strife, unimaginable violence and suffering, and terrible, terrible mistakes, America still, somehow, remains a country that people can hope to be free in.

That is worth something. That is worth voting for.
