@RishiSunak Your government is only interested in serving the military industrial complex. If you care about the opinion of the people you vote for a permanent cease-fire now.
The gap between education and action is hard when people's time and money are scarce and impulsivity is high. It takes time to research more sustainable alternatives. It takes money to buy a better quality product. It takes self-control to not buy stuff when we don't need it.
Rolling out measures of end-producer responsibility is tricky in a landscape where recycling facilities are not set up to handle the mass volumes produced and we can't expect thrift to absorb the ever-growing styles put out. Degrowth has to be part of the model.
The way AI will change the fashion industry is unpredictable. But brands not investigating how it can benefit them will lose out. Will we see an even more homogenized industry of copycat trends, or will this result in more unique voices growing?
Fake carbon credits or greenwashed claims stop real progress in its tracks. Unfortunately, those who shout the loudest and have the biggest platform drown out the countless brands doing the actual right thing. Don't fall for the lie that what you buy doesn't really matter.
I've been reaching out to companies to find out how brands can use their sustainable solutions. It takes a lot of time - something most fashion brands don't have. So for these solutions to become the norm, it starts with transparency on how brands can adopt them.
The consumption model starts with what the consumer values. Now most people value quantity, perpetual newness, microtrends and endless pleasing of the dopamine cycle. We need to get to a place where we value quality, timelessness, considered style and ethical consumption.
One of the main blockers stopping fashion brands from doing better is incentive. With barely to no repercussions on slave wages, terrible sourcing practices or greenwashing is it any surprise we just see the worst of the worst like Shein growing?
Happy to see legislation for living wages being pushed within the EU. However, with all of the dodgy and straight-up criminal practices going on, I'm curious how this would be enforced.
I'm currently building a hub for fashion brands. Navigating the ever-expanding landscape of tech, sustainable solutions and industry jargon is a headache. What's one company I should definitely include?
The current speed of change is too rapid for anybody to comprehend. That's why community is so important. The crisis of meaning and a clear sense of positive direction can only be established when people band together to shape a world that benefits the majority.
Is AI yet another thing that will widen the gap between monopoly corporations and small businesses? Or is it a pathway to supercharge the capacities of brands doing business in a new way?
It's been so exciting seeing the tremendous growth of startups in the recycling, biobased materials and packaging space. We've got so many solutions for a better industry, we just need them to be adopted at scale.
Incredible work by @rachel_arthur and @UNEP. They just released "The Sustainable Fashion Communication Playbook". For any brand uncertain on how to communicate their sustainable efforts with the world, this is invaluable.
@arihappywick The battle between leather (mostly meat industry byproduct with often terrible pollution during the tanning stages BUT still more durable than leather alternatives) or vegan leather is a tough one...
Our new White Paper outlines the urgent need for living wage legislation at EU level.
@goodclotheseu is pushing for EU living wage legislation. We need 1 million signatures to demand the EU takes action - but we only have 2 weeks left!

@Fash_Rev@goodclotheseu Would love to hear how this would be enforced. As there are so many hidden slave labor dark factories that nobody probably will ever know about...
