@msmaness I agree, Hannah! It’s important to not only teach our students the curriculum but to also teach them about what’s going on in the world as well as how they can contribute to what they’re seeing in society so they can hopefully one day make a difference. #3310TXST

(1/3) Educational philosophies shape schooling by providing a basis on what is deemed “important” to teach. As someone who attended school in a small town, most of my teachers’ approaches to teaching were heavily based on essentialism. I feel as though this approach #3310TXST

(2/3) inhibits the expansion of ideas in young people, leading them to “know what they know” and not strive to learn more about the world around them or how to improve it. I think that by growing a well-rounded group of educators who not only teach students but inspire #3310TXST

@MissDeandraa I agree, Deandra! I'm glad you brought up lowered productivity as a result of students not being comfortable in their environment. It's important that we uplift our students and appreciate their beliefs no matter if they differ from our own. #3310TXST

@teachwithtayp I agree, Taylor! While there should definitely be a level of appropriateness maintained for the school setting, students and teachers should be able to address injustices they may witness without fear of any sort of penalization, and their thoughts should be heard! #3310TXST

Students deserve a school environment that values and promotes their individualism, and without protection of students' freedom of speech, how can this be achieved? As teachers, we should be able to properly educate our students on the active world around us. #3310TXST

@BrookeTxst I totally agree Brooke! Growing up, when I didn’t have a good connection with my teacher I found it more difficult to ask for help, and it made me appreciate the ones I did have a good connection with much more. I strive to be like the teachers that helped me so much growing up!

@kristianteaches I agree Kristian! We can’t teach all students if we don’t know all our students! A good student-teacher relationship allows a foundation for students to ask for help and feel comfortable in the environment they learn in. #3310TXST

To teach all students, it’s also important to understand that not everyone learns the same, so what might work for others may not work for all, so having multiple ways to teach a lesson is vital. #3310TXST
