@DustinGouker Same as I saw as Head of Research at Betfair. Most users just placed back bets to get better odds on, for example, a Manchester United win than they'd get with Ladbrokes. They didn't understand the exchange model, didn't need to. However .... liquidity ....

@GR_APPG The UK has a non-hypothecated tax system, which Gordon Brown is well aware of. We absolutely need to get rid of the 2 child cap, but saying that an increased tax on online gambling can do this is misleading.

@DrSalGainsbury @NCPGambling I disagree with this :-) Alan Feldman had an excellent article this month saying the opposite. We should NOT conflate responsible gambling messaging and PG messaging. It confirms what people already think, that RG tools are for people with problems. Unhelpful for prevention.

This says to me (may be wrong, not read the whole thing yet) that prevention is The Most Important Thing. Try and ensure that people don't get to the point of experiencing moderate/high levels, as they are then less able to make good decisions about how to avoid harm.

People experiencing no reported problems and people experiencing low levels of problems were more likely than people experiencing moderate and high levels of problem gambling to report reduced use of credit cards to gamble and use of borrowed money to gamble post-ban.

I should really have known this already, but I just discovered that Florida's gambling helpline is 1-888-ADMIT-IT. Gosh. Any views on this from my lived experience followers (or anyone else)?
