When I get the think space I too shall be doing this - Check me out on BlueSky and/or Mastodon (same @ as here) I'll also be completely deleting this account and all it's information after I do a full data pull. I've only ever used it for Librarian work so...
I am no longer using Twitter/X due to the activities of its owner, and the amount of disinformation and hatred that is allowed here. I suggest all info professionals do the same.
#OxFOS25 is now open and bookable on our website: https://t.co/vOOyzOPEmu
Check out the timetable of events both in-person and online. Look forward to seeing people!
Astonished to have an AI generated (I assume) article published under my name. We must find better ways of detecting and flagging bogus content such as this. Note my “co-author” also had nothing to do with this. @erichorvitz
Morning Twitter (no I won't call it X - you can't make me) - BE aware I'm doing some testing. If all works well I'll be using Buffer to cross post on BlueSky, Mastodon and Twitter all at once and scheduling posts. Lets see how this goes!
I feel like we have the opposite problem in the humanities: publishing in special issues as a junior scholar can be special & good for your career, but the process is often opaque & info is fractured and inaccessible! I'm working on a project to help address these issues :)
So there's that: https://t.co/XCUbCaK2it no monograph OA policy for this REF (to 2029) A relief for Sarah the Librarian (though I'm going to have to rejig my training now) but a irritation for Sarah the open advocate.
Now it's not invite only there's a certain butterfly social site with a cerulean colour...
I've + the SarahHLib/Library cactus - If I followed you it's because the transfer worked - If I've missed you please find me! I use the Elephant site more though (With + followers too!)
I've spent most of my adult life as a librarian, with access to information and choice the focus of what I do. Hearing and seeing this news broke my heart.
@TimHickson1 Check out The Real Mary King's Close attraction while you're there. it's a great insight into a type of life (re: the poor of Edinburgh) that you usually don't see.
Just found out that Taylor & Francis has sold access to all @routledgebooks data to Microsoft to train their AI. This includes my publications. I get no payment for using my research labour, never mind the bigger problems of this energy-intensive extractivism...
It's official - I now have the same number of followers on Mastodon as I do on Twitter - In a lot less time! (they also sometimes interact with me which is novel!)
