Update: The owners of Politics and Prose hired Jones Day, a law firm known for its aggressive anti-union tactics, after declining to voluntarily recognize their workers’ union. https://t.co/FXhbW1p5oC
It’s been three months since we asked for union recognition from the ACLU.
That’s three more months without a say in our working conditions.
That’s three months farther from the protections all workers deserve.
It’s time for management to stop stalling.
We are thrilled to see over 135 supervisory @urbaninstitute staff publicly support our right to organize! We are grateful for their letter and once again urge @swartell and Urban Institute leadership to voluntarily recognize our union.

Congratulations to the Urban Institute and Brookings staff for for organizing @UrbanInst_Union and @BrookingsUnion with @NonprofitUnion. I hope other workers in nonprofits follow their example and join a union. Now more than ever, we need a strong labor movement for all workers.
Very excited and proud to be a part of the newly formed @UrbanInst_Union!! I stand in solidarity with my colleagues as we work to cultivate a more inclusive and equitable workplace. Looking forward to voluntary recognition! @urbaninstitute
Good morning! We just informed our management that a supermajority of eligible @UrbanInstitute staff have formed the Urban Institute Employees Union, organized with the @NonprofitUnion. Read our press release here:

@originalficus so on brand! and how it’s validating why I didn’t get along with the coaches being retweeted like huh I knew there was a reason I didn’t like you lol
DC is more than Capitol Hill and the White House. It’s a place where people live. It’s Piscataway land, it’s Chocolate City (forever), home of go-go and mambo sauce, Salvadoran food and Little Ethiopia. It’s DC residents and workers who are bearing the burden of this moment.
Wednesday's events were traumatizing for so many of the DC-area's essential workers. @colleengrablick and I spoke with some of them to get a sense of what their days/nights have been like this week. (TLDR: it's been hell) https://t.co/2jxwtzV6yV
There are over 30 police forces in DC. THIRTY!
This is unlike any other state! The fact that they were able to breach the Capitol is a grotesque display of white privilege! They took selfies and hand walked them out the building!
If this does not outrage you, what will!
Hundreds of thousands of DC residents had to endure a coup in their backyard today, go into curfew at 6pm, and fear for their personal safety. None of them have any representation in Congress.
