You reduce crime by eliminating poverty. You reduce crime with universal healthcare, public housing, livable wages, and free college. You reduce violence by creating happy, healthy communities that arenโt constantly fighting over basic needs and material resources.
The wildest part about POVERTY is how much time it steals. Waiting for buses. Calling assistance offices. Comparing grocery prices. Fighting insurance. Sitting at laundromats. Being poor is a second job nobody pays you for.
Every time you avoid something uncomfortable, your brain reinforces the idea that avoidance works. It literally strengthens the pathways that make hesitation, procrastination, or excuses automatic. And every time you do the hard thing even imperfectly your brain is building a new pathway: this is something I can do.
I wish people realised that "socialism" means caring about the working class, feeding starving children and giving people affordable healthcare, housing and more..
Experts already said it's so unhealthy to look at a screen for 8 hours, stand for 8 hours, or sit for 8 hours, but as soon as you say a 40-hour work week is too long, people think you're radical.
