I think I have had everyone of these emotions this week. Thank goodness for all those I work with @NHSscw. Let's hope the changes are for the good of all people we work, serve and seek to meet the needs of
Emotions play a significant role in the leadership of change. As well as being powerful tools of persuasion and influence, emotions ground us in humanity. Yet they're often undervalued & underdiscussed. Ten emotions that can provide a driving force towards positive change:
1) Frustration: can lead to groundbreaking ideas
2) Regret: can show us what to do differently next time
3) Enthusiasm: the most effective change leaders are evangelical about the world they're building
4) Devotion: full-bodied unapologetic commitment to someone else's success
5) Happiness: the power of sparking joy at work
6) Discomfort: good things can happen when we leave our comfort zone
7) Anger: understanding what's underneath it is often a good place to start change
8) Joy: can fuel success
9) Fellowship: other people who will help us when we need to get back up
10) Grace: making space for our own flawed humanity before we can open up the circle to others

In everyday life, it’s better to be valued than needed.
Being needed creates dependency in others and obligation for you. You feel worried and guilty about letting them down.
Being valued grants autonomy. Your help is appreciated but not expected on their road to self-reliance.
Bloated meetings waste time. We need better norms:
-Include people with relevant expertise & authority
-Update others electronically after
-Give permission to decline
-Invite active participation
If your voice isn't needed, your attendance isn't needed.

When you burn people out, you push them out. Stars are the first to leave—they have the most opportunities.
The solution is not to pile on the perks. It’s to pinpoint the root causes of overload and design more manageable jobs.
If you want to keep people, stop exhausting them.

@AashaCowey I completely recognise your reaction. I've had similar experiences but they have never left me and inform my day to day interactions. The big learning I had was forgiving myself to help me learn and grow rather than stay fearful of doing it wrong again and then doing nothing.

Been pondering on... as a non-clinician how the model of effective clinical supervision can be built upon to become more MDT in its approach and inclusive of those who contribute to care but who are not clinically registered. Thoughts???
Excitingly today our Somerset Prehab for Cancer service is supporting patients in a new location as we have a room at the beautifully renovated Victoria Park.
As the environment lead governor for @MonktonCe I got the opportunity today to learn more about some of the great work being done around improving the school environment to aid with wellbeing and learning. The team were so welcoming and enthusiastic. I can't wait to see more soon
