@KaitlinRose93 I bet the cover art is by my favorite children's artist, Trina Schart Hyman. Long ago she was the artist for the children's magazine Cricket. Also, it's a good book. I bet you can convince a student to read it. It's a bit of a mystery and a little bit scary and it's in a castle!

@CharissaAPowell Thank you for asking this! I'm in same situation. The class is "Reading old stuff" and I think they'll do a scavenger hunt in their homes to find an old mechanical object that has a patent number. Then we'll look up the patents. We're a mix of eng, arch, biochem, and engl.

A colleague and I nerded out studying an article's references last night. Not sure the students were as keen, but we had a blast trying to determine if the field was a new as it seemed from the citations and what disciplines early researchers pulled from.
