There’s a lot I can’t say right now and a lot that I’ll probably never say but know this: when a person of color working in audio/radio/podcasting is telling you how they’ve been hurt by the industry, believe them. Always believe them. We are not making this shit up.
One more thing: when Eric says “infinitely hard”, it’s impossible to explain just how dark that time was. Their pushback thickened the air.
I’m eternally grateful to Eric and the rest of the organizing committee for pushing and fighting so faithfully on behalf of all of us.
Last week I got an email from Sruthi about Reply All’s Test Kitchen series. I had been avoiding listening but once I did I felt gaslit. The truth is RA and specifically PJ and Sruthi contributed to a near identical toxic dynamic at Gimlet. This will be a longer thread, apologies.
When people ask my why I pitched this podcast, why Relisha's story sticks with me, I'm honest. It's because she's a little Black girl. And little Black girls deserve to be protected and cared for as much as anybody. https://t.co/3zfp6UNSaF
