Spider-Man: Brand New Day may be the best Spider-Man movie of the MCU era. Matthew J. Hunter (@MattHunterMCR) doesn't dispute that. The problem is the factory. This iteration is already obsolete, a placeholder for the reboot Feige has announced, and the film's own villain - a government-corporate outfit that experiments on the powered and treats people as disposable assets - is just the studio's logic, one that profits from Spider-Man's image. Anti-union campaigns, mass VFX layoffs, a content pipeline that reduces cinema to content. A well-made product doesn't excuse the factory that made it.
