NSW Health is advising people in western and northern Sydney to be alert for signs and symptoms of measles after being notified of three new confirmed cases.
The public is advised that there is no active incident occurring at a shopping centre in Hurstville – an alarm was activated as part of testing.
Police responded as a result of the alarm, however, no evacuations took place.
There is no threat to the public.
We understand an AI-generated image of armed police inside a shopping centre has since been circulating.
The public is urged to not share false images and only rely on official sources for accurate information.
NSW Health is advising people to continue to be alert for signs and symptoms of measles after being notified of two new cases. One case is a returned traveller from South-East Asia, where there are ongoing outbreaks of measles, and the other is an interstate traveller.
NSW firefighters are deployed on the ground and incident control centres supporting Victorian crews. More than 500 NSW firefighters have assisted with containment, hazard tree removal and inspections. Fire danger is set to increase later this week. Stay informed via VicEmergency.
