💢 Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel is prepared to expand military operations across the occupied West Bank, telling a cabinet meeting Sunday that troops had been ordered to “enter villages, search them, seize weapons, and make arrests,” and that Israel would “act more broadly against terrorist strongholds,” per the Times of Israel.

The vow came hours after Israeli settlers set fire to two mosques overnight in the village of Qusra, scrawling “revenge” in Hebrew on a wall, according to AP. The unrest follows Friday’s deadly confrontation near Nablus, which began when roughly 30 settlers raided and threatened locals in the village of Tell. One man who disarmed and reportedly shot a violent settler and three other Palestinians were killed.

Netanyahu and Defense Minister Katz announced measures including demolishing the accused Palestinian’s home, more checkpoints, and accelerating settlement expansion.

Israel’s opposition Democrats leader Yair Golan accused the government of deliberately stoking chaos in the West Bank ahead of elections, prompting Katz to accuse her of uttering a “blood libel.”
