A Utah man is facing a felony charge after witnesses say he repeatedly slammed a cat into concrete in front of children.

According to police, the animal was picked up by the neck and thrown against the ground, a door, and concrete steps. Officers reported visible injuries, including bleeding skin and leg damage, and said the cat was struggling to breathe when they arrived. The man admitted to handling the cat roughly and was issued a summons at the scene.

The cat is still recovering.
