The Saskatchewan Federation of Police Officers (SFPO) sends our deepest condolences to our colleagues in Ontario following the tragic loss of OPP Provincial Constable Tarun Bali, who was killed in the line of duty today in Hearst.

Constable Bali had served with the Dufferin Detachment for two and a half years and was on active deployment at the time of the incident. This loss is a somber reminder of the real risks frontline officers face every day across our country to keep our communities safe.

We stand in solidarity with Constable Bali's family, friends, and the entire Ontario Provincial Police family during this incredibly difficult time.

Rest in peace, Constable Bali.

We are proud to introduce the next chapter for the Saskatchewan Federation of Police Officers under the leadership of our newly elected President, 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀 𝗥𝗵𝗼𝗱𝗲𝘀 of the Saskatoon Police Service.

Chris brings a clear vision for the future, centered on advocacy and excellence, while sincerely thanking outgoing President Casey Ward for his tireless dedication to our members across the province. We are fortunate to have such capable, dedicated leadership guiding us forward.

Day two of the Spring Conference highlighted key provincial updates as delegates turned their focus toward the future of law enforcement resources, training infrastructure, and recruitment.

We were pleased to welcome 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗲𝗹 𝗪𝗲𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝘂𝘁𝘆 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘆 𝗭𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗿𝘂𝗸 to discuss personnel numbers for Municipal policing, the RCMP, and the Saskatchewan Marshals Service. They also shared updates on Saskatchewan Police College staffing and class sizes, as well as the nationwide ad campaigns promoting law enforcement careers in the province.

As we gather for our annual conference, the SFPO family prepares to say a heartfelt goodbye to President Casey Ward, who is stepping down after more than a decade of exceptional service.

Representing over 1,400 police and civilian personnel across Saskatchewan, Casey has had a tremendous impact on our organization and community. For many years, members have leaned on his steady leadership, active community involvement, and strong advocacy for member mental health.

Reflecting on his tenure, Casey shared: "I want to sincerely thank the SFPO members for the privilege of serving you over the past 14 years. It has been an honour to work alongside such dedicated professionals. I am grateful for the trust, support, and friendships built, and will always value our shared experiences. I am incredibly proud that we were able to step up and provide vital resources to all associations - small and large when they needed it most."

While we will miss his leadership, we are thrilled for his next chapter as an Inspector with the Regina Police Service!

Casey, words cannot fully express our gratitude for your loyalty, care, and the lasting mark you leave on our organization. You will always be a part of the SFPO family. Thank you for everything, and we wish you the absolute best!

The Saskatchewan Federation of Police Officers is officially kicking off its annual Spring Conference! Today and tomorrow, delegates and experts from across the province are uniting for two days of collaboration, education, and shared leadership.

Representing over 1,400 𝗱𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗹 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗦𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗻—encompassing eight Police Associations, including both Senior Police Associations—SFPO delegates have gathered in Estevan to focus on key issues impacting members.

Saskatchewan Federation of Police Officers asks: Does your family have a "just in case" plan?

Emergency Preparedness Week is about one thing: making sure you and your loved ones are okay when things get chaotic. When a crisis hits, the first few hours are always the toughest. While we're working hard to keep the community safe, it gives our officers huge peace of mind to know you’re prepared at home.

Take a few minutes tonight to chat with your family and walk through a simple plan. Check your batteries and grab some extra water while you're at it. It’s about looking out for the people you love—and it helps ensure that everyone in our community stays as safe as possible during an emergency.

The 𝗦𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗻 𝗙𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀 is in Ottawa this week attending the Canadian Police Association 2026 Legislative Conference and had an opportunity to meet with Members of Parliament and Senators.

The team is discussing critical challenges facing our members, public safety, and policing issues to ensure that front-line concerns reach national leaders directly. Police personnel are dedicated to keeping our communities safe, and 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗰𝘆, 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁. The SFPO remains committed to working on behalf of the entire association to ensure those needs are met.

Today marks the National Day of Mourning, a time to pause and honor the workers across Canada who have been killed, injured, or suffered illness due to workplace tragedies.

As flags fly at half-mast on Parliament Hill, the leadership of the SFPO is on-site to join in this national remembrance. We stand with the families and caregivers impacted by these losses, renewing our commitment to ensuring every worker returns home safely at the end of the day.

Reflecting on the day, SFPO President Casey Ward shared:
"Being here on Parliament Hill is a powerful reminder that these aren't just statistics—they are people with families who have suffered a loss. It really hits home why we work so hard for safety; we want to make sure everyone gets back to their loved ones, because even one loss is one too many."

This week, the SFPO is celebrating Public Safety Telecommunicators Week here in Saskatchewan.

Our dispatchers and 9-1-1 call takers are the true "voices of safety." They are the first ones on the line during an emergency, keeping everyone calm and making sure help gets exactly where it needs to go.

We are so grateful for the dedication and heart these professionals bring to the job every single day.
· Handled over 555,000 calls across the province this past year.
· Provide a constant lifeline for the public and our officers on the street.
· Work behind the scenes 24/7 to keep our communities running smoothly.

It is with great sadness that the Saskatchewan Federation of Police Officers mourns the loss of 𝗦𝗴𝘁.-𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗻𝗮ï𝘀 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻-𝗖𝗼𝘇𝘇𝗲𝗻𝘀, who died in the line of duty following a tragic collision in Côte-Nord.

A dedicated member of the Major Crimes Investigation Division in Gatineau, Anaïs was a valued colleague, and her sacrifice will not be forgotten.

The SFPO offers its strength and support to her loved ones and colleagues. Our thoughts are with family, and all our brothers and sisters in blue at the Sûreté du Québec.
