Hey, you found us! Welcome to Sassylum.🎉
We are a youth-led Nigerian NGO run by young people, for young people. We exist because Mental health in Nigeria is complicated: cultural taboos, financial strain, family expectations, campus pressures and the stigma around..
@sassylum_ That's a good point — and the "you're the last person to trust yourself on this" part is underrated. When you're deep in it, your perspective is shaped by the same environment that's hurting you. An outside voice cuts through that in a way self-reflection just can't.
If you spoke to your friends the way you speak to yourself, would you have any left?
You are often the first to offer soothing words to a struggling colleague or a friend.. do you do the same to you?
you cannot bully yourself into a version of you that you’ll finally love…
Choosing to speak to yourself like someone you love changes your biology.
It lowers cortisol, clears your mind, and actually gives you the mental space to solve the problem instead of just drowning in the guilt of it.
Your "reason for being" is basically just waiting for you to acknowledge it.💚
What is one thing you do that makes time seem to disappear? That’s a clue to your Ikigai. 😉 Let’s hear it in the comments! 👇

To find your Ikigai, you need to give yourself permission.🤷🏼♀️
✅Permission to prioritize what you love.
✅Permission to walk away from what drains you.
✅Permission to pursue peace.
..finding that one thing that makes your soul feel alive and saying yes to it.
Ikigai expresses the need for "a reason for being." It’s the sweet spot where your passion, your mission, your vocation, and your profession intersect.
It’s that thing that gets you out of bed in the morning without the need for an alarm clock.
But here is the catch!
If you’re feeling heavy today, this is your sign to let some of that pressure out.
Talk to a friend, write it down, or seek professional support.
You don't have to wait for a breaking point to start healing.

Understanding your own triggers, strengths and those quiet patterns that hold you back is the first step to becoming the best version of yourself.
What truth about yourself have you been avoiding?
Face it. Then move forward.⏭️

"Temet Nosce"—Know Thyself.
It sounds like a simple ancient proverb, but in practice, it’s the hardest work you’ll ever do.
We spend so much time curating how the world sees us that we often lose track of who is actually behind the wheel.
But that version of you doesn't own today.
You can always:
✅Start over without apologizing.
✅Change your mind.
✅Be a better, kinder version of yourself than you were 24 hours ago.
The pen is back in your hand this morning. What are you writing today?
The Concept of “Tabula Rasa” reminds us that every sunrise provides a clean slate.⛅️
Yesterday might have been heavy. You might have missed your goals, let your boundaries slip, or felt consumed by your thoughts..
It’s a good day to be proud of yourself.
It’s a good day to be nice to yourself.
It’s a good day to be gentle with yourself.
It’s a good day to be true to yourself.
Childhood abuse is one of the most horrific and traumatizing events a human being can endure in life.
This article looks at how relational trauma affects a developing brain of a child and what survivors can do to heal a lifetime of hurt. https://t.co/8PK1nOjeBQ
