ITV describes their series 'The Walk-In' as 'based on real events' surrounding Hope Not Hate's 'Head Of Intelligence' @MattHopeNotHate.
In the series Stephen Graham's 'Matthew Collins' obtains and keeps a firearm, after he feels he has been threatened by political opponents.
Most handguns have been banned in England since 1997.
We contacted @hopenothate and asked them the following:
1) Has Matthew Collins ever obtained an illegal or legal firearm when he felt he was in danger during a Hope Not Hate investigation?
2) Is it standard practice in Hope Not Hate to issue firearms to employees if they feel they are in danger?
3) Did any British institution (police/MI5) issue Matthew Collins with a firearm whilst he was operating on behalf of Hope Not Hate?
4) If Hope Not Hate denies the above allegations why did ITV include this allegation in their series?
Hope Not Hate did not respond to our enquires.
