https://t.co/8GwIwO1apt should be back up and stable. If you see any new issues please do let @k5em know. Blocking malicious bots that were making a lot of unnecessary requests was the last piece of the puzzle to stabilize memory usage and response times.
Reminder! There are 3 ham radio contacts with the @Space_Station crew coming over the next 3 days.
Tomorrow (Thu) @dominickmatthew will talk with Queensland Australia.
Friday @Astro_Jeanette will talk with Seattle. Saturday she chats with the Tuskegee Airmen Convention.
Finally was able to fix @sat_match https://t.co/mMhAzzTRm6 today. Apologies for the extended downtime, hopefully it'll be stable more long term this way. If you see new problems please do let me know.

A little @sat_match PSA: we will likely have some downtime the first few days of August as some hosting provider changes take place that I haven't been able to accommodate yes as I'm on travel. Search for and print your early August passes now. https://t.co/5hmcrkIb2h pls RT
I just updated https://t.co/mMhAzzTRm6 with a fix for a long-standing rendering issue for some IO-117 passes. The site should be more reliable for this satellite now. Please let me know here or @sat_match if you see any further issues like this.
Updated today to fix an issue that impacted searches for MEO satellites such as IO-117. Should be all fixed, but if you see an issue with any searches or pages please let us know. Thanks to @W8LR_Jerry for the bug report.
New @sat_match feature geared to rovers: create a single grid list for your rove location/time/satellites. Now a box appears under the list and your chasers can drop their grid in and search for overlaps. Same for single pass pages. Enjoy! https://t.co/mMhAzAaUo6 #amsat#satcom
Updated @sat_match to add advanced search UI options and to make the pages more responsive on mobile. One known issue is that the satellite autofill doesn't work as well as before. Other than that, let me know if you run into any major issues. #amsat#hamradio#satcom#iss
For improved precision, use the Lat,Lon,Alt,Horizon input method for both locations. Altitude is a required field to enter a non-zero horizon; it's best to enter the ground elevation above sea level in km (I use @googleearth). These methods can also be used for horizon above zero
We now have improved support for small and negative-angle passes. These are useful when searching for passes which barely overlap or are only workable from high elevations with a clear horizon on both sides, like the recent 7956km pass by @K7TABravo and @mi6gty shown below.
For input, you can use 4, 6, or 8-digit maidenhead grid squares and optionally append the height of the observing location in kilometers above sea level and a horizon less than zero in degrees - separate each filed by commas without spaces.
@K7TABravo@ad7db@mi6gty .@sat_match will do negative horizons if you know how to ask ;) The ,0,-5 is the WGS84 altitude MSL in km and horizon in degrees, so it will get more accurate with that info. I suspect there are probably some plotting issues around the plot axes, it's not been tested much
Just saw that satmatch will accept a comma separated list of satellites and give you each pass in chronological order. Totally awesome @k5em@sat_match@Amsat
I finally added a long-requested @sat_match feature: lists/groups of satellites are now supported. There are a few lists of active sats added to the incremental search box, and you can create your own lists by typing a comma separated list without spaces. Enjoy! #amsat#hamradio
New features today: added display of the distance between observers in km on the overlapping pass pages (thanks @K7TABravo) and fixed a cache issue which dramatically sped up most page loads. Enjoy https://t.co/6uzoFQu4aK now 5x faster.
Updated some graphics on https://t.co/mMhAzAaUo6 to use SVGs for sharper display and faster download, and added small pass icons for the single location satellite list. Need to verify performance on these before updating the remaining lists and images. Let me know what you think!
@BrennanTPrice @sat_match I went ahead and made this a UI feature: make the second grid blank on the main search page and you can get single observer passes.
