ALERT | July 26, 2026, 0050 HRS | Bihar Student-Youth Movement.

In the aftermath of the mass arrests in Bihar on July 24, the following comrades remain incarcerated in Beur Jail:

Sandeep Saurav – CPI(ML) MLA (Paliganj)
Dhananjay – CPI(ML) leader and former JNUSU President
Divyam – CPI(ML) Bihar Media Cell member and AISA leader
Dipankar – AISA Bihar State Secretary
Saba Afreen – AISA Patna University President

In addition to the above, more than 50–60 comrades from the district and block-level units, along with several students and youth participants, are also currently incarcerated. We are in the process of gathering further information and will provide updates as more details become available.

On July 25, as part of the Jantar Mantar agreement, the Union government agreed to withdraw all cases against activists associated with this student-youth movement in BJP-NDA ruled states.Yet, many people associated with the movement continue to remain imprisoned in Bihar.

We demand the immediate and unconditional release of all those arrested and an end to the repression of the democratic student-youth movement.

I feel one thing that is different in GenZ from the older generations is that they don't care for obedience. I saw so many reels in the last few days where the kids were challenging their parents, calling them out, making fun of them for being a supporter of the establishment. I saw reels of kids coming to the protest despite their parents asking them not to, some even took flights to come all the way to Delhi.

I have long felt that one of the greatest impediment of our generation is the constant idolising of parents, and then forever in life, we are looking for some idols, whether it is in a god or a politician or a religious baba. And thereafter, we live a life of followers, and followers can't be rebels.

Where did religion come in the picture? People in the protest site never mentioned or discriminated on the basis of Religion. In fact it was a symbol of unity. People from all religions joined and stood up for what they believed in
