#MovieReview #TheRajaSaab - BEYOND JUST A HORROR COMEDY

The trailer had given an idea that #TheRajaSaab will step into a mystic world. The first 15 minutes of the film set that in motion as well. While the next 40-45 minutes are quintessential south masala mode where #Prabhas gets into dance, action, romance and family emotions, it’s the 30 minutes lead up towards the interval point that holds one’s attention with the backstory of #SanjayDutt keeping you intrigued.

The second half starts decently where hallucination/illusion/mystic world holds your attention, and hence comedy and romance (with #MalvikaMohanan #NidhiAgerwal #RiddhiKumar) seems to be a distraction and you want real conflict to be on the forefront. A shorter first half with curtailed middle portions, and then tighter beginning of the second half would have made the movie even crisper.

That’s why when #Prabhas and #SanjayDutt take on each other, it’s more engaging since former impresses with his charm and latter with his menacing attitude.

Well, director #Maruthi reserves the best for the last 45 minutes of the film which are truly terrific. #BomanIrani also steps into picture and there is no looking back as a whole new world is created here, leading to a never-seen-before supercharged climax, with #ZarinaWahab going full throttle too.

You can see that the entire team had a certain vision, and credit to #Thaman who ensures that the BGM elevates every scene in a huge way. Production is top notch too and cinematography is rich, hence making #TheRajaSaab a true big screen experience.

#TheRajaSaab is one of those films that grows on you as it unfolds. It doesn’t rush to impress in the first few minutes; instead, it builds its world patiently, trusting mood, emotion, and scale to do the heavy lifting. By the time the film reaches its latter half, that confidence pays off in a very satisfying way.

There are several genuinely cheer-worthy sequences that stand out. #SanjayDutt flashback is easily one of the most gripping stretches of the film. It adds depth to the antagonist, shifting the conflict from mere physical threat to psychological menace.

Sanjay Dutt dominates these scenes with his presence, and the backstory lands with weight, drawing strong reactions in the theatre.

The interval block is another high point. It works as a clean narrative turning point rather than a routine pause, sharply raising the stakes and creating a proper whistle-worthy moment fueled by solid hero–villain tension.

The #BomanIrani sequence that follows acts as a narrative pivot, bringing clarity and gravitas. His dialogue and staging naturally invite applause, reminding you of how effective restrained writing can be.

Emotionally, the hospital scene featuring #Prabhas and #ZareenaWahab is one of the film’s strongest peaks. The grandmother–grandson bond is conveyed through silence and stillness rather than melodrama, resulting in a genuine lump-in-the-throat moment.

The final 40 minutes elevate the film further, delivering international-grade visuals rarely attempted at this scale in Telugu cinema. The climax embraces epic spectacle while staying rooted in emotion. The monster element feels like a natural culmination of the story’s mythology, not a gimmick.

Prabhas anchors the chaos with controlled intensity, ensuring the emotional stakes never get lost.

Director #Maruthi deserves praise for maintaining tonal control across horror, fantasy, emotion, and spectacle. The film is long, and a slightly tighter middle would have helped pacing, but the payoff is rewarding enough to forgive that.

In the end, The Raja Saab is a confident, emotionally grounded horror-fantasy that trusts its story and its star. It’s composed, immersive, and clearly designed for the big screen—a film that builds patiently and delivers decisively.
