APC National Chairman Inaugurates ‘President Tinubu Door-to-Door Movement’ for 2027

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has officially inaugurated the national executives of the President Tinubu Door-to-Door Movement ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The movement was established by Niger Delta leader and businessman, High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo.

Professor Yilwatda charged the new executives to effectively carry the message of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda to every door in Nigeria, emphasizing the administration’s infrastructural development initiatives and economic reforms.

TCN Restores Power Supply to Taraba State Following Upgrade of Yola–Mayo Belwa–Jalingo Transmission Line

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has restored electricity supply to Taraba State, including Jalingo and its environs, following the successful completion of upgrade works on the Yola–Mayo Belwa–Jalingo transmission line.

Full restoration was achieved at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, 13 January 2026, after the completion of all pre-commissioning tests and the mandatory soak period, in line with standard operational procedures.

The planned outage began at 2:16 p.m. on 9 January 2026 was to allow contractors carry out critical upgrade works on the transmission line. These included line stringing from the terminal tower to the newly constructed line bay to enable the energization of newly installed 150MVA power transformers at the Jalingo and Mayo Belwa Transmission Substations.

To ensure the safe and seamless execution of the project, the Gombe–Yola transmission line was temporarily opened on 11 January 2026 to facilitate associated line bay extension and transfer works at the Yola Transmission Substation.

Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) is a major beneficiary of the upgrade of the Mayo Belwa and Jalingo Transmission Substations from 132kV to 330kV. This enhancement will significantly improve power reliability, increase transmission capacity, and support growing electricity demand in Taraba State and neighbouring areas.

TCN appreciates the patience and understanding of electricity consumers during the outage and reaffirms its commitment to strengthening the national transmission grid for reliable and efficient power supply across the country.

The wife of Muhammad Sanusi II, the 16th Emir of Kano and sister of the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, is celebrating the reinstatement of her husband.

The action of the Federal Government in deploying soldiers in Kano in the tussle over the throne of the ancient city is an upset to the peace and security of the state and also in breach of the 1999 Constitution as Amended.

In performing their constitutional duties of law-making, the Kano State House of Assembly (KSHA) passed the amended Kano State Emirate Council (Repeal) Bill 2024 in consonance with the provision of Section 4 of the Constitution 1999 as Amended, whereas the Governor of Kano State, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf subsequently signed the bill into law. The law, therefore, repealed the 2019 version, which balkanised the ancient Kano Emirate into five.

The foregoing circumstances happened within the confines of the law and in compliance with the powers conferred on the Governor as provided by Section 5(2) of the 1999 Constitution as amended; and also in consultation with the Kingmakers of Kano, reappointed Sanusi Lamido Sanusi (also known as Muhammadu Sanusi II) as the 16th Emir of Kano State and accordingly handed him a letter of appointment.

It is surprising that in the early hours of today, at or about 5:30 am, the former Emir of Kano, His Majesty Aminu Ado Bayero, backed by Federal might, made their way into the Nasarawa Palace of the Kano Emirate while the reappointed Emir, Muhammadu Sanusi II was at the Gidan Dabo, which is the main residence of the Emir of Kano.

We need to remind the Tinubu administration that Kano State is known for peace and harmony spanning thousands of years, and any attempt to destabilise the peace of the Land of Commerce shall be resisted. Recall that when Muhammadu Sanusi II was dethroned on 9th March 2020, Kano forged on in peace without any fracas. -AA
