The brave and fearless "journalists" of Pakistan who were excitedly reporting and tweeting on Indian cockroaches are strangely silent - not even a peep from these frauds - on the large scale violence and massacres of Kashmiris by Pakistan Army. India has quietly ordered the companies to stop calling their high-caffeine beverages "energy drinks" -- and after a closed-door standoff, the industry has agreed to fall in line within 90 days.

Context is key here -- Energy drinks is a striking category built entirely on instant-energy marketing -- think Red Bull's "Gives You Wiiings" or Sting's ads showing lightning coursing through the body. And it lands in one of the country's fastest-growing drinks markets, expanding quicker than the United States or China.

Publicly, the food regulator (@fssaiindia) said in early July there were no Indian standards for such products, and that claims like "vitalizes body and mind" were misleading. It gave no further details.

In private, the message was far tougher: drop "energy drink" -- or any similar descriptor -- entirely. At a closed-door meeting, FSSAI chief rejected the companies' business arguments outright, telling them they were free to challenge the decision in court.

The industry pushed back hard beforehand. In a confidential July 6 letter, the Indian Beverage Association (@India_IBA) warned that public disclosure of notices could damage reputations, disrupt operations and confuse consumers, and urged a "risk-based enforcement approach."

If stringent laws could deter people (exam leaks for example) there would be no crime. It’s not the law stupid! It is the criminal justice system and its ability and certainty to punish criminals that can deter crime, if at all. So don’t hold your breath that the anti cheating bill will stop exam leaks

Pakistan's "journalists" commenting on Cockroaches in India remind me of a joke from Cold War years. A Russian and an American are discussing who enjoys more freedom. The American says "I can stand in front of the White House and abuse the American president and nothing will happen to me". The Russian says "Big deal. I too can stand in front of the Kremlin and abuse the American president and nothing will happen to me". These alleged journalists who haven't had the guts to cover protests in PoJK and the brutal disappearances of Baloch and Pashtun students in their country, are "bravely" and breathlessly reporting on Indian cockroaches. Salute to your "journalism" and your courage.
