शिक्षा विभाग के दो अफसरों पर भ्रष्टाचार का आरोप लगने के बाद ऑस्ट्रेलियाई शिक्षा मंत्री यवेट बेरी ने दिया इस्तीफा

ऑस्ट्रेलिया के ऑस्ट्रेलियन कैपिटल टेरिटरी (ACT) की शिक्षा मंत्री यवेट बेरी ने अपने विभाग में भ्रष्टाचार के मामले के बाद मंत्रिमंडल से इस्तीफा दे दिया।

जांच में पाया गया कि उनके विभाग के दो वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों ने एक सरकारी स्कूल के पुनर्विकास से जुड़े ठेके में अनुचित हस्तक्षेप किया और एक विशेष संगठन को लाभ पहुंचाने का प्रयास किया। हालांकि, जांच आयोग ने स्पष्ट किया कि यवेट बेरी स्वयं किसी भी भ्रष्टाचार में शामिल नहीं थीं।

इसके बावजूद उन्होंने मंत्रिस्तरीय जवाबदेही के सिद्धांत का पालन करते हुए इस्तीफा दिया। उनका कहना था कि विभाग में हुई गंभीर प्रशासनिक चूक की नैतिक और राजनीतिक जिम्मेदारी मंत्री के रूप में उनकी भी है। वे विधायक के रूप में अपना कार्य जारी रखेंगी।
