This is really bloody disappointing but not entirely surprising. Because of this development, I'm going to pretty much leave Twitter for a while, although I won't delete my profile in case people need to get in touch with me via DM. https://t.co/JCGrKu2Cjr
Arghgh, I wouldn't normally post on here but I don't know of all that many suitable places to post to a wide audience. Could anyone please help me with this invert ID? My friend spotted it today after removing some 1980s carpet in her new flat in the centre of Edinburgh.

Often, this newspaper clipping from ~111 years ago is shared showing that we knew burning coal causes global warming.
What's not shared is that the original Popular Mechanics piece β from which this article was reprinted β thought global warming would be a good thing.
Caves & fissures in shaded limestone provide a challenging niche for #bryophytes. To grow here, species need to tolerate very low light and, if water seeps in, possible "entombment" in tufa. This small cave hosts Mnium stellare, Rhynchostegiella teneriffae, and Gyroweisia tenuis.
@phoenixashes189 I personally don't think of foundation as skincare? I think of it as makeup. I too can't stand makeup on my face, so I can relate. I find keeping my face clean with a flannel and very hot water once or twice a day helps a lot when the skin on my face is struggling. π
I find it hard to access certain articles even as a PhD student at a major University. Just some journals seem to be really difficult? I'd like to think authors would be polite and much more understanding, even if they couldn't provide the article for some reason...
In case you haven't already seen, there was an amazing new species of stick insect described last week. Everyone definitely needs to see this phasmid!

First saw this bird in Dec 2020 feeding high in a birch when I initially mistook it for a Linnet. It returned last Winter and again yesterday (unless it's hybrid offspring?). Always with Goldfinches but the first time on the garden feeders. Presumed Goldfinch x Linnet hybrid.
Information like this ought to be part of every child's currriculum by now. It's a shame that we'll likely have more and more years of ignorance and bigotry before most people understand and appreciate all of this.
Ok the worlds in turmoil, accusations keep getting thrown around...so let's talk about hormones.
Biology determines your sex and your gender, it's not natural to be trans, men are different than women biologically...right? Wrong. Sex is a spectrum. As are all things biological.
