@RebbeSMZ Indeed. The labeling of money savings as the win for closing the least expensive campus with the most unique resources reeks of coastal elitism and bias. I'm a proud Jew who has lived all but one year of my life in "flyover" country.
“If the board of HUC-JIR [closes the Cincinnati campus), we will trade yesterday for tomorrow and wind up with neither.”
My latest. And my first ever in @tabletmag - a publication I really enjoy and respect.

"...there is a sneaking suspicion among many, myself included, that this plan is merely the first step in closing down or selling off the Cincinnati campus altogether. The proposed plans for the campus are completely unserious."

It took them a while, but they finally released the recordings... almost three weeks later. Not just that, but they edited out all the Q&A segments, where alumni voiced their concerns about the plan. Things like this are why people have trouble trusting.
Worth noting the significance. Nearly 10% of HUC living alum agree that "This plan has already alienated...alumni, who not only support [HUC], but are also instrumental in identifying, nurturing, and recruiting potential students, governors, and sources of philanthropic support."
Want to help prevent HUC from closing the Cinci rab program and causing irreparable harm to American Jewry? Read this letter signed by over 350 HUC alumni: https://t.co/n9nYeaExMj. Then, get to work. Find an HUC alum you know not on the list of signers, and get them to sign on!
Ishay Ribo hears of the terrorist attack just before beginning a concert.
He addresses the crowd. He prays.
Then he sings.

“Even as I walk through the valley of death, I will not fear because I know You are with me.” (Psalms 23)
Aside from the potential future irreparable harm to the resources and community in Cincinnati, the admin is doing irreparable harm NOW to a community (alum) it relies on for fundraising and attracting future students.
The @Enquirer digs deeper and finds that @HUCJIR's recommendation to remove the rabbinic program from @HUCinci has no support from Cincinnati's leadership https://t.co/WjfdGytROX
Crazy. PRES REHFELD SECRETLY TRIED TO SELL THE HUC LIBRARY to the Universities of Cincinnati and Chicago! Literally brought people in for secret tours. When confronted by professors on Aug. 17, he responded "I'm a fucking academic!" As if that makes it ok.
A proposal to end rabbinic training at Hebrew Union College in Cincinnati loomed large over the school's "Founders' Day" celebration. https://t.co/aDrhgu8cDg
13 years after thousands rallied in support of keeping HUC’s Cincinnati presence, the board of HUC
has recommended shuttering @HUCinci's Rabbinic program.
The proposal has zero support from Cincinnati faculty or administration (page 20, footnote 1), https://t.co/YnCuvrS8zy
