This is definitely worth a read highlighting many of the national arguments for trying to get a pause and a rethink from central Government on these schemes. #stopthepylons
@CoppiceJT What do you want National grid to say to them?
It is very simple:
National Grid should follow Green Book guidance
Be transparent
Consider alternatives
We know that pylons are NOT cheap and that there are better options
@PylonsEAnglia
London School of Economics estimates average house prices will fall by 12% of living near new pylons. For those living in the Amber Valley this is likely to be more like 30% or more given that there is currently nothing to obstruct the landscape.#stopthepylons
Day 2 of the @UKLabour conference.
Say no to a nature-destroying land grab .
Say yes to using empty homes, brownfield and existing buildings.
Say no to greenfield, car-dependent sprawl.
@CommunityPlann1@ChrisGPackham@CPRE
We've written to @ed_miliband as follows:
Government should take an evidence-based approach to policy-making. A Secretary of State should set high standards of behaviour, not least in adherence with the Nolan Principles which require objectivity and leadership.

Incredible inconsistency. Power lines are bad, so we bury them. Power lines are good so we want to build 180km of pylons. Great to see this project, however.

LAST DAY to submit your objection to @nationalgriduk and oppose their horrific proposal to destroy the local landscape with 50M high pylons just because they’ve somehow worked out its slightly cheaper than following the established pylon route along the M1 corridor.#stopthepylons
Well that’s it…my objection submitted for the Chesterfield to Willington pylon upgrade. Pylons through the heart of this uninterrupted countryside over existing areas of similar infrastructure. I can’t quite believe all what I have read. Here’s hoping someone is going to say no
Ogston reservoir SSSI, habitat to rare birds, key migration stop off approx 200m from the edge of the proposed route of 50m pylons every 300m. Listed alongside other SSSI 15 miles away. Proper consideration? Shame on @nationalgrid Please help @saveambervalley#stopthepylons
TIME IS RUNNING OUT- final submissions either via the online form or via email need to be in today. Please act now and voice your opinion on the @nationalgriduk proposals. #stopthepylons
2 days to submit feedback and ongoing ‘maintenance’ issues with the @nationalgriduk online feedback. Remember you can email them and could make all the difference. Send your feedback and concerns today via email to
[email protected]#stopthepylons
ACT NOW- get your objection into @national griduk. Think of the long term health implications for the children of the valley. From the EMF cancer link to their mental wellbeing (devastated by noise pollution and the destruction of the beauty of the valley).#stopthepylons
Not long to get your objections into @nationalgriduk. Have they considered the harm to our heritage sites? The pylons will spoil the settings of multiple listed buildings and conservation areas such as Wingfield Manor, Ogston Hall and Sth Wingfield.#stopthepylons#Derbyshire
PLEASE NOTE!! National Grid IT maintenance works means the online feedback form will be unavailable between Friday 13 September at 7:00pm and Saturday 14 September at 6:00am.The deadline for the Chesterfield to Willington Stage 1 consultation remains 11:59pm Tuesday 17 September.
Been filming today with Channel 4 on the Great Grid Upgrade for @PylonsEAnglia. Will tweet when I know when it will be shown.
Pylons should be the last resort.
Offshore grid cheaper
HVDC undergrounding cheaper
Existing grid upgrade cheaper
Less than 1wk to submit your feedback to @nationalgriduk. Think about our farmland, our food security, our farming industry. Put pylons on grey belt lands not the countryside. #stopthepylons#NFU#Derbyshire
