Campaign for Save Dr. A.R. Lord Elementary - to raise awareness of how great our school is, how it's not empty and work towards finding methods to keep it open.
@ILiveInEastVan So how does this friendlier packaging get recycled? That restaurant just had a huge fat garbage can. No compost or paper separated bins.
Very good article on our current issues with #lrfp and yes we do have a tough 6 months ahead. @TheTyee@VSB39 we do@wish that our trustees woukd@come out and visit us and get their own qualitative information. https://t.co/mEVc4S7j9J
Because, as shown above, while we keep talking about ‘empty seats’ in East Van schools, the are in fact more students at both Elementary and Secondary levels living in the east. 8/x
Now is the time for the @VSB39 to take school closures off the table. The new Facilities Planning directions from Ed Minister @Rob_Fleming should focus the #VSB39 on keeping neighborhood schools open. #bced@VanDPAC
We agree. And we’re a prime candidate for community use of space which is inline with new recommendation in LRFP guidelines. @janetrfraser case for reconsidering utilization calculations.
Our school is constantly at fault of being under capacity as the school had no multi purpose rooms at design time. Just many classrooms. We’ve converted one classroom to a music room and bam we’re underutilized. Flawed calculation. @VSB39
That’s a great idea. Know they’re using MoE formula and definition. Not sure if the recent letter re: lrfp means the ministry has updated their calculation. #lrfp
#VSB39 considers any room *originally built as a classroom* empty unless it has a class in it. Even if it is now a library, resource or art/music room that is used by every student in the school all day long. Let me repeat loudly for media & others: THESE ROOMS AREN'T EMPTY #bced
Community Group https://t.co/PHedzmpTGX has created a survey regarding the #LRFP. @VSB39 has produced that lists schools in the #EastVan that could be consolidated as one of their recommendations. Take a moment to be heard by participating in this survey. https://t.co/WJehJw9JV3
We appreciate what @pattibacchus has to say in this article re: chronic problems @VSB39 has with public consultation. We’re not moving in the right direction. https://t.co/Wo54COhJci #LRFP#publicschools
This weekend support our community and your garden by getting farm fresh manure. Saturday 9a to 1pm at AR @DrARLordPAC school. https://t.co/MhGfHp7SdD #gardens#Vancouver
@tracysherlock i.e. Ministry of Education predictions indicate only 2160 "empty seats" in 2027. I'd love to see that point mentioned in the media as well. It's MOE who controls the funding, so I don't understand why VSB would not use those numbers if their goal is to get MOE funding approval.
Join us at a public information & feedback session about the draft Long Range Facilities plan: Thurs, April 11th 6-8pm at Kitsilano Secondary or Tues, April 16th 6-8pm at Van Tech Secondary. Learn more about the draft plan & its 17 recommendations: https://t.co/jyArlAeXgR
@lttleol_me@E_Van_Mama@VanDPAC@VSB39@SaveARLord Lol, so there were slides. TY. NB: PACs should provide their feedback directly to the VSB. @VanDPAC is happy to proxy feedback, but PACs have their own legislative right to be heard by the VSB and they should exercise it as much as necessary.
@SaveARLord The school board (pre-election) passed a motion to start talks with the park board about sharing space. Community centres are strapped for space. Why can’t this be expanded to city and other levels of government?
