Network Rail: "Our priority is completing the works on time"
The priority for any developer is completing any project safely and without incident. The priority should not be time/ cost savings. When focus is placed on meeting deadlines, it puts saving money before saving lives.
BANG! Huge thanks to all who attended today's action. POWERFUL. We will be posting an official statement tomorrow morning regarding our next steps. For now you will find coverage on ITV, BBC and London Live. #SaveBrixtonArches
TODAY! Three years ago on this very day, @networkrail announced plans to refurbish the Brixton Arches. Today we DEMAND that @lambeth_council shut this development down. It is UNSAFE and will compromise market traders on Brixton Station Road.
More: https://t.co/9znBr7mA8J RT RT
@LadBrixton@SadiqKhan@lambeth_council 36,000 people signed a petition against the development and over 850 official planning objections were registered. If you had attended @networkrail's community con-sultation you would have been the only one there with those view. Regarding the investment you speak so highly of...
All say hello to Spence Ltd.
The contractors doing the pillaging
They'll put you in danger and kill off the traders
Or may wish that they'd never visited...

Environmental conditions in the vicinity of the works will be impacted by unacceptable levels of noise, vibration & poor air quality, with dust & dangerous particulate matter, (PM 10’s and smaller), possibly carrying remnants of asbestos directly into the lungs of the community.
EXTREMELY worried for people who have to use Brixton Station Road, including train passengers and children at @BrixtonRec creche. This development by @networkrailis is dangerous and must not begin on Monday!! Have you heard about this @SadiqKhan@MumsnetLambeth?
