All the £ spent on private consultants despite having council PR/Planning dept, multiple surveys (now outdated/redundant), acquiring local properties which have lain empty - down the drain. Money that could have been used for the library! #wastedresources

Fingers crossed: at last Barnet seems to be rowing back on the awful "Hendon hub" scheme that would have seen massive over-development and the swamping of the iconic library that started the nationwide development of children's services and storytelling

@InsideMillHill @BarnetCouncil & @MiddlesexUni's #HendonHub 3 applications voted through without any changes in the number, size & density of the buildings planned other than returning part of Hendon Library. The Hub has become a popular campaign issue over the last 3 years.

Local anger over the Hendon Hub development was made clear at a committee meeting this week as two new applications on the project site were approved.

The physical scale of the development is overwhelming and the seven-storey structure are out of character for the vicinity

@ProfessorBlitz @BarnetCouncil @MiddlesexUni @BarryJohnRawlin @BarnetPost @BarnetLabour Design approved by @BarnetTories in Jan 2022 had an overwhelming number of unaddressed objections! Current design shows library isn't fully returned/B9 is still to be developed using part of Library.
@BarnetLabour talked the talk but are not walking the walk.

Sorry, residents, it HAS to be approved today to keep library where it is. Tough

Flagship Library is saved but not saved! Only the original building is kept. All other usable areas from the 1970s infills could be new built library areas for community, NOT for an auditorium joined at the hips to Town Hall Annexe & Hendon Library. #Ugly
