An Australian conservation organisation that exists to protect clownfish and other marine aquarium ornamentals. Breeding | Research | Education #fishkiss4nemo
@CassieHoepner from @savenemo is using proteomic & metabolomic analyses for her PhD to find out the molecular composition of #anemonefish mucus & how it allows for the formation of the iconic symbiosis between #anemonefish and their venomous #anemone host
Congratulations to @CassieHoepner from @savenemo for being awarded a grant from @EcolSocAus Holsworth Wildlife Research Endowment towards her PhD providing insight into the evolution of the relationship between anemonefish and anemones
Very inspiring talk by @salty_daSilva @FlindersCSE #EqualforEqual#IWD2020 at lab coat challenge event @Flinders. Great to see our Flinders alumni doing so well.
We recently attended the Caring for Clownfish program at Boyne Island Environmental Education Centre. This captive breeding program advocates for a sustainable #Reef by enabling students to learn how to breed and care for clownfish and provide stock to aquariums stores.
#ArtificialLightAtNight is known to disrupt circadian rhythms of many animals, including humans! But what impact does this have on #clownfish physiology? We are about to find out!
Celebrating the hugely successful Honours seminar and viva by superstar Toby Patti! Toby compared microplastic sampling methods to find the best one, and applied this to assess microplastic abundance & accumulation patterns around a populated island in the Maldives. Great work!
Yanuca island in Fiji has a vibrant community and beautiful reefs. Willy, an avid environment lover on the island is keen to get involved with some #citizenscience so we’ve sent an #ICANEMONE trial pack to the island. So excited for the Yanuca to be involved. #marineconservation
We’re excited to announce that the first Fijian IC-ANEMONE snorkel trail has been launched at @VolivoliBeach 🐠 Josh and Jah worked hard to set up this trial of 10 tagged anemones to help us assess reef health and save Nemo! #keepwildfishfree#conservation#citizenscience
Many of us think of a movie when we hear the name "Nemo." We learned yesterday from @sigmaxisociety and @smartbrief that @savenemo is researching how light pollution may be harming REAL #clownfish. Maybe their work will help them just keep swimming. https://t.co/hgZBA6BXv7
So excited to chat about biology, @savenemo and #WomenInSTEM to yr 9 girls at the @Flinders STEM Enrichment Academy conference this week! Encouraging the next generation of scientists and empowering girls to pursue their dreams. Thanks to @FlindersSTEM & @ParappillyMaria
