My son Xander is 12.
He is non-verbal, autistic, and in relentless pain every day.
He hits his head, neck, legs, and knees.
He screams. He can barely walk.
We are watching him suffer with no answers.
We went to his doctor.
We described his pain, regression, and his screaming.
She brushed it off.
Said it was “just behavioral”—because he’s autistic.
And when we pushed for more help?
She told us:
“That’s what specialists are for.”
But she dragged her feet on the referral.
We waited months while our son’s pain worsened.
We finally got an MRI at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital—but it only included his brain and neck.
Not his lumbar spine, where we believe the problem may be.
That MRI showed 2 bulging discs in his neck.
But that doesn’t explain his leg pain, tight muscles, or why he can barely move without agony.
We suspect a tethered spinal cord—a serious but treatable condition.
Yet his doctor refused to order further imaging.
We are now taking him to Boston Children’s Hospital, praying they will finally help.
We had to fight, beg, and plead to even get in.
And all the while, our child continues to suffer.
📸 This is Xander.
Left: Dec 2024 — silly, bright, and full of life.
Right: Now — exhausted, quiet, and hurting every day.
He’s still in there.
We believe he can come back.
We just need someone to listen.
Please share. Please help.

This is my 12-year-old son Xander.
Non-verbal. Autistic.
In constant, untreated pain.
Doctors said it was “just behavior.”
They refused imaging.
Dismissed our pleas.
We finally got into Boston Children’s.
Now we fight.

@RobertKennedyJr once asked:
> “Where are all the severely autistic people my age?”
Many are likely dead—from medical neglect, from being ignored.
Because society treats people with autism as if their pain doesn’t matter.
@McDonalds Sooo can we have some awesome McDonalds swag again? Like the OG disney cups.... The Hercules plates or even the Flintstones glass cups! Or can we have adult happy meal toys that are geared towards adults? Wine opener for mommy😂
