We recently did an inspection of completed works at Morris Island Lighthouse. In 2008 the Charleston District constructed a cofferdam around the lighthouse to prevent further erosion and provide structural support. We inspect the project yearly with the @SavetheLight1 foundation

The Morris Island Lighthouse is visible from the Lighthouse Inlet Heritage Preserve at the northeastern end of Folly Island.
The lighthouse is the third to occupy the site off the coast and was operated for the first time on October 1, 1876.
