Sara🌻Mertonian, strong believer in community/civic pride, fighting&coaxing developers/Merton Council not to rip heart out of town&people. Clean air’s a right.
Local authorities are building new schools on pollution hotspots, ignoring evidence that pollution is an invisible killer. A 1,150 student Harris Wimbledon is being pushed through on a cramped toxic site. Help us to stop this. https://t.co/VRUfGsw1AF
@libdemlife And quite frankly if this is LibDem views on planning then how different are you to the current party in power? Greedy overdevelopment does not bring better homes and housing or security and wellbeing to the area. Think beyond boxes please!
@libdemlife You still don’t get it Simon. Quality of homes is vital for wellbeing now& in future, impact onNHS. It’s piling up sizes & design that people object to not actual building of homes! Get proportions right, light, green is essential& we’re all with you.
@SaveWimbldnPark No justice, No peace. AELTC needs to remember that. Hope first two cases go against its greedy plans. Third one with Merton at the centre? Hmm. Merton’s track record is pretty poor imo, shortsighted, easily wowed by free tennis gifts/towels, royal box tickets, promise of grandeur
300 mature trees. 500+ saplings. Gone.
This isn’t landscaping — it’s deforestation for sport.
A canopy lost for 50 years, even if new trees survive.
Nature doesn’t grow back overnight. 🌳 #Deforestation#EnvironmentalImpact@CPRELondon

Next Steps – The High Court!
The SWP judicial review that challenges the GLA’s planning permission to build on Wimbledon Park will be heard in the High Court on 8th and 9th July, during Wimbledon Fortnight
It has taken 4 yrs and many £1000’s of your money to get us to this point so it is vital that on July 8th we make an impact.
We need a good turnout early in the morning of July 8th. 🙏
@piersmorgan She was kidnapped/hijacked because she&others were Still in international waters abt 100 km north of Egyptian city of Port Said where Israel has NO jurisdiction. Israel took her&vessel without their consent into Israeli territory..Just think if a Palestinian had done that!!
@C20Society We’ve been under a Labour Council for over a decade& Merton/Wimbledon builds ugly as result with 1 or 2 exceptions where locals fought nail&tooth. It’s always £ that makes them tick& “promise” of more flats which are unaffordable, stay unsold. Beauty, mental welfare don’t exist
@C20Society incredibly disappointing decision by @AngelaRayner & @marksandspencer - the embodied carbon alone makes this far too costly, not to mention the loss of this beautiful building. and for what?
@C20Society@EmilyGreenaway9 On the eve of the Centenary of Art Deco this is such a disappointing turn of events. All too redolent of previous short-sighted losses of interwar architecture. So much for sustainability & #adaptivereuse. Seems we're on the same road to nowhere as before. The bulldozers triumph.
BREAKING NEWS // Angela Rayner has granted permission for M&S to demolish their Oxford Street flagship store, overturning a decision by the previous Secretary of State.
The chance to set a vision for a more sustainable and creative Britain that reuses its built-heritage has been squandered. Green growth? Not on this evidence.
@MertonGreens@MayorofLondon I was heartened when Wandsworth voted against it, but with Merton saying go ahead, that flipped it to a yes to me even with Wandsworth’s no. As said, Merton Labour councillors& Mayor are tight, family imo.He hasn’t rejected one Merton decision since I discovered planning in 2016
@BBCBreaking Attack or retaliation with context?Who killed Haniye on Iranian soil?Who bombed Iran’s diplomatic mission in Syria, killing 7 of its military advisers?Who was behind indiscriminate mobile phone/walkie talkies blewing up in Lebanon? Who’s committing plausible genocide in Gaza?
Green politicians would never have approved such an irresponsible plan. It's just not good enough that Labour is divided on the matter. Their incoherence flies in the face of climate breakdown, the biodiversity crisis, and huge opposition from residents.
