Over the weekend, those of us who have been trying to find out what we can do to #savewokingpitp got together...

Our purpose is to assist the council in finding away to prevent closure, and there's all to play for at this point.

We've already made contact with the council, and will work across the board with all decision makers and stakeholders in pursuit of our aims.

heartening to see cooperation between councillors of all, and no, party colours.

The bottom line is that the council has to present a balanced budget, and so all non-statutory spend will have to be cut back. The council has very little wriggle-room on this, and it's clear that

Afternoon everyone - I'm going to try and provide a further update to last night's council meeting, and where that leaves us moving forward. I think that everyone in attendance, including the Councillors and members of the public, felt the seriousness of the situation and it was

- Essentially, it's not over - it's just beginning. The MTFP provides a framework for discussion, ideas, and negotiation.

- It's not just the pools. Services will need to find supporters, partners, & volunteers in order to keep running.

- The council is committed to working with local interest groups, and open to finding a way through the turmoil, if it exists.

- We've learned that the pools play a much bigger part in town life than previously known, particularly in the lives of vulnerable & less able people

So, in terms of where we are and what we know...

- No-one wants to close the pools, but there are limits to what the council can do financially.
