Why is Iryna Zarutska’s murder being swept under the rug? A beautiful young woman was brutally murdered in an unprovoked attack by a stranger in North Carolina on a Light Rail train. Decarlos Brown, Jr was charged with her murder. She was 23. He had 14 years worth of violent crimes, arrests, and jail time under his belt at 34 and was schizophrenic and homeless.

Daniel Penny was forced to subdue Jordan Neely in NYC when he became violent on the subway (after multiple arrests for the same thing). Neely didn’t survive, but his intended victims did. Sadly, Iryna didn’t have a Daniel Penny to save her.

When are we going to stop putting mentally ill people in jail when they commit violent crimes and then letting them out to do it again? This result was foreseeable.
