As sad as it sounds, when we tell the full story of what happened around Lil Durk, Akademiks’ hands are not clean in the cultural sense.

I’m not saying Ak caused Durk’s case. Durk has to answer for every decision Durk made.

But we cannot minimize the role of a man who spent years amplifying Tekashi 6ix9ine trolling this man over his dead friend, pushing “slide for Von,” turning real blood, real grief and real pressure into content — then later sitting across from Durk like none of that atmosphere mattered.

And I fault Durk for sitting with him too.

I remember Durk basically telling Ak, I respect that you don’t pick sides.

That was the mistake.

Because when people are actually dying, giving everybody a microphone isn’t always neutrality. Sometimes you’re just giving the fire more oxygen.

And this is what bothers me most about Akademiks: the playing dumb.

This is an educated man. He understands context clues. He understands what certain questions mean. He understands what certain headlines, conversations and narratives are doing.

So when he suddenly becomes confused inside these interviews — “What do you mean?” “How?” “Why?” — I don’t buy it.

You can’t be smart enough to build the machine, then act too dumb to understand what the machine is doing.

I don’t give these gentlemen much energy because sometimes attention is an energy transfer, and every trade ain’t profitable.
