It is clear that the media must change how it reflects the world.
Somali Female journalists are underrepresented in the top management positions within media centers, which means that women are barely part of the major decisions in their workplace, decision around their futures-
A recent report by @freepressunltd found that 37% of newspaper, television and radio stories are reported by women, this statistic has shown no change over the course of a decade. This gender-imbalanced picture of society can reinforce and perpetuate harmful gender stereotypes.
#Somwim congratulates Somali women, especially female journalists on International Women's Day. This day is dedicated to highlight the achievements of women and the role they have played in advancing their societies in a wide variety of fields.
