For generations, people have traveled to a lonely stretch of West Texas desert hoping to see something they can't explain.

Known as the Marfa Lights, glowing orbs have been reported near Marfa since the 1800s. Witnesses describe mysterious lights that appear in the distance, hovering, splitting apart, changing colors, and sometimes seeming to move across the desert before vanishing.

Scientists have proposed everything from atmospheric reflections to vehicle headlights, but the debate has never completely gone away. Spend enough time in Marfa, and you'll find plenty of people who are convinced there's more to the story.

Whether it's science, illusion, or something nobody has figured out yet, the mystery continues to draw visitors from around the world to a remote corner of West Texas.
