Centrally planned (can be done democratically as these are indeed orthogonal axes) economy provides the real freedom through the abundance it can generate.

The problem is the power structure - that decisions on development and utilization of such a powerful technology are concentrated in the hands of a tiny elite. A general capitalism problem.
