FAVOUR REQUEST: if you have any good photos from the trip (especially those taken with a quality camera) would you mind bringing them in to school next week on a memory stick or similar? We want to do a really good display - thanks in advance!

@lloyd_zareena No problem - it was our pleasure!

[Sandbach High Battlefields @SBattlefields]

We hope you've enjoyed these updates - we will leave the account running so that they can talk you through what they've been up to! Thanks again from Mr Batty, Miss Markwell, Miss Norcliffe and Mrs Abson.

We have just left the motorway and will be with you shortly. Thanks for your patience tonight. The girls have been an absolute credit to their families and to the school; we have had so many positive comments about their behaviour & attitude - the whole trip has been a privilege.

New (and hopefully final) ETA is midnight - we had to miss a section of the M6 due to a junction closure but we are now about to leave the M6 toll

[Sandbach High Battlefields @SBattlefields]

Just about to leave the services and head home - we should be there for just after 11:30

[Sandbach High Battlefields @SBattlefields]

We are finally getting close to Watford Gap where we will stop to eat - our best estimate at the moment is 11:30 back at school. Apologies and thanks in advance for your patience

[Sandbach High Battlefields @SBattlefields]

Our luck had to run out eventually! Traffic on the M25 is horrendous - unfortunately we will be home much later than planned. We will keep you posted re: times.

[Sandbach High Battlefields @SBattlefields]

Just a quick toilet stop at Thurrock then we’ll be on our way to Watford Gap to have some food and change drivers

[Sandbach High Battlefields @SBattlefields]

@PBrandreth It was pretty cold! Thankfully we stayed dry though...

[Sandbach High Battlefields @SBattlefields]

More from Langemark, including a plaque for two British soldiers buried here

[Sandbach High Battlefields @SBattlefields]

We’re just 20 minutes behind our scheduled arrival time - we’ve left Dover and we’re on our way home!

[Sandbach High Battlefields @SBattlefields]

Terrible photo due to the rain but the white cliffs of Dover are there somewhere! We will be arriving at the port in about 10mins then we’ll be setting off for home

[Sandbach High Battlefields @SBattlefields]

We are on board the ferry and setting sail in around 10mins 👍

[Sandbach High Battlefields @SBattlefields]

The “Lucky Ken the driver” fan club get a photo at the port with their hero 🚎

[Sandbach High Battlefields @SBattlefields]

We’ve safely cleared passport control and the ferry is currently on time - we SHOULD be crossing at 15:40 local time and arriving in Dover at 16:10 UK time 🤞🤞

[Sandbach High Battlefields @SBattlefields]

We’ve left Ypres and we’re now on our way to Calais - we’ll keep you updated with our progress!
