We pray for the eternal rest of Sr. Maura Feeley, RSM, a pioneering woman religious in our diocese who passed away Sunday in Ireland at 91. She was the first woman to serve as Chancellor of the diocese, among the many important ministries she led here. May she rest in peace.
Meet our two newest diocesan priests, Fr. Larry Curtis and Fr. Luis Angeles, ordained today at Sacred Heart Church, Rancho Cucamonga by Bishop Alberto Rojas. Pls pray for these holy men of God as they begin their journey in priesthood.
More than 200 community members received much needed resources at the Senior Emergency and Health Resource Fair on Saturday, May 2, at Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral in San Bernardino. The resource fair, which was hosted by the Diocesan Office of Emergency Operations Collaborative and Welbehealth, included 26 vendors that offered emergency and health information presentations, Medicare/medical assistance, free dental care exams, information for Alzheimer's, hearing and vision tests, immigration assistance, free emergency, health and medical supplies, and much more. The Fair was so well received by the community that other parishes in the Diocese will be hosting a senior health resource fair in the near future.

We pray for the eternal rest of Fr. John Hindman, retired priest of the diocese called home to God on Apr. 7. Fr. John ministered in 10 different parishes here between 1989 and his retirement in 2012, including pastor of Christ the Redeemer and St. Joseph, Big Bear.
Bishop Alberto Rojas celebrated the annual Child Abuse Awareness and Victims Mass last night at Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral. This Mass is celebrated every year in recognition of April being National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
“Dear friends, this is the meaning of the resurrection for us today, that no wound is beyond God’s reach, beyond God’s compassion and mercy,” Bishop Rojas said. “No darkness is final, no life is beyond redemption, the risen Christ meets people precisely in their brokenness. Not to dismiss it, but to transform it. We must be clear, resurrection hope does not excuse injustice, it calls us to confront it. It calls the church to accountability, to safeguarding, to ensure every child and vulnerable person is protected and safe. It calls each of us people to be vigilant, to be compassionate, to be courageous and to be co-responsible to honor the human dignity of every sister and brother around us as children of God that we are.”
During the Mass, Bishop Rojas also blessed an image of Saint Maria Goretti the patron saint of sexual abuse and the faithful had the opportunity to venerate a relic of the Saint, which was present at the Mass and placed below the image.

“I have a heart for deaf ministry, deaf culture. It’s just beautiful,” says Father Bryant Rivas, Parochial Vicar of St. Anthony Catholic Church, San Jacinto. “Yet many deaf people don’t go to Mass, don’t have their Sacraments, don’t get married in the Church. But why? Because we never offer it to them.”
A new IC BYTE newspaper article dives into how a SoCal group wants to raise awareness about the needs of the deaf community, increase the number of priests who know ASL and provide more faith building opportunities for Deaf Catholics at both a diocesan and regional level.

Our own Father Bryant Rivas, parochial vicar at St. Anthony, San Jacinto, celebrated ASL Mass Sunday at Holy Angels Catholic Church of the Deaf in Los Angeles. He’s part of a group of SoCal clergy trying to strengthen ministry to the deaf. Look for a story in the April issue of the BYTE about his special accompaniment of the deaf community and his determination to serve them in our diocese.

Today, on the Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children, we pause to remember and mourn the innocent lives lost to abortion, and to lift up in prayer all those who carry the pain of that loss.
At the Pastoral Center, the Office of Respect Life and Pastoral Care held Mass, Adoration, and the Divine Mercy Chaplet where we offered our prayers in reparation and hope, entrusting every unborn child to God, the Creator and lover of life.
We invite the faithful to take time today to pray for the unborn, for mothers and families, and for a world where every human life is protected in law and welcomed in love.
Your generosity helps shape the future of our Church. 💛
