🚨 Alessandro Bastoni on Arda Guler after Italy’s 4-1 win over Turkey:
“People saw me asking Arda for his shirt after the game and apparently some were surprised.
Why?
We won the match. It doesn’t mean I suddenly forgot who can play football.
There was a point in the first half where he kept receiving the ball, turning and finding passes between us. After a while I told the others, ‘Stay close to him. If Turkey are going to create something, it will probably start here.’
The strange part was that after he released the ball, sometimes our problem solved itself.
So eventually you understand the situation. You respect the player, but you also realise he cannot receive his own pass.
At the end I saw him throw something to the ground. He looked angry. I went over and asked for his shirt.
He looked at me almost like, ‘After 4-1?’
I said, ‘Arda, I’m a defender. When I spend an entire game worrying about one player, I keep a souvenir.’
People will look at the score and think he had a bad night because Turkey lost. I don’t see football like that.
Sometimes the hardest player to defend is playing for the easier team to defend.”
they’re disabling Jude Bellingham’s comps due to copyright infringement or whatever agenda 😂
Incase you missed the action, here’s a video of HIM schooling Rodri, Pedri and all Spain midfielders 🥰😍
🗣️ Zlatan Ibrahimović on Arda Güler’s performance against France:
“Arda Güler is a rare talent, but sometimes he suffers because of the quality around him in the Turkey team.
He creates chances, delivers quality passes and constantly tries to make things happen, yet there is often no one there to finish them.
And look at the level of opposition he faced. He was playing on the same pitch as Olise, Dembélé, Mbappé and Cherki and Arda still stood out with his quality and creativity.
Arda Güler is the midfielder I enjoy watching the most right now. I’m not claiming he’s the best midfielder in the world, but he’s certainly my favorite.
There’s something special about the way he plays. He’s extremely intelligent, and every time the ball reaches his feet, you feel like something extraordinary could happen.
He’s a naturally gifted No. 10 a true old-school playmaker. His dribbling, vision, passing, creativity and ability to create chances are exactly why I love watching him.
For me, he has everything needed to become one of the greatest No. 10s football has ever seen. I see similarities with Mesut Özil in his game.
I also enjoy watching Bruno Fernandes, Jude Bellingham, Pedri and Vitinha, but if I have to choose one favorite, it’s Arda Güler.” 🇹🇷✨
🚨Thierry Henry on Arda Güler’s performance against France:
“Real Madrid are still looking for Toni Kroos and Luka Modrić replacements? Tell me that’s a joke. When you have a young kid performing like this, I’ll tell you what you’ve got: two players in one.
We saw it tonight, just like we’ve seen it before. He was everywhere on the pitch, the best player on the pitch tonight, I can’t even lie. He has already carried his country on his back.
I hope Real Madrid do the same for him. Build your team around him. That’s how they can end this two-year trophy drought. They love spending money, but they already have a gem. I wish he played for Arsenal.
Give him strikers who can run, press and make the right movements, then leave the rest to him. No ego, no noise, no distractions, just football. That’s what I love about him.
I won’t compare him with the other boy because people always want controversy. But if you understand football, you can already see it. He’s ahead.
Arda Güler… remember the name.”
